Madame Hardy organized and hosted the first French Spelling Bee in 2012 at Frederick Douglass High School (Atlanta, Georgia) to highlight, award, and celebrate students who excel in world language study. Dr. Shamita Johnson was the first teacher to sponsor students for the contest.

The Fifth Annual French Spelling Bee will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024 (11:00 to 3:00 p.m.) at Coretta Scott King Young Women's Leadership Academy. The top prize is $300.00.
