The 2024 - 2025 STEMulate through Literacy promotes reading about and discussing the biographies of Black scientists. All textbooks and materials were made possible by NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English).
ELA naturally integrates content of other content areas. Students are honing language skills while learning about different branches of science, including neurology and entomology.
Meetings are held every Wednesday after school from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. Students who participate can earn credit for missed assignments.

The STEMulate Through Literacy Program allows students to improve their language skills; additionally, students can learn about how people in STEM can constructively transform our lives. Thus, possibly increasing the number of African American girls who pursue careers in STEM—the people who become the next generation of innovators.
About 90% of the materials used for the STEMulate Through Literacy Research Project was made possible by a grant from the National Council of Teachers of English (NTCE) during the 2023-2024 school year.
You are invited to participate! Meetings take place after school on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:40 p.m.
